There are several sources of economic information that can bolster an argument in personal Injury and wrongful termination cases. For instance, if the number of job openings in the US economy is high, it will be easier to argue that there will be jobs to find for a person who was recently terminated. If wages are stagnating it will be more challenging to say that future wages are going to increase exponentially.

I tend to look at trends that include but are not limited to:

  • Unemployment data
  • Productivity
  • Job Openings
  • Treasury rates
  • Inflation rates
  • Wage trends
  • Employer’s cost

Good sources for this information are:

  • Bureau of Labor Statistics, https://bls.gov
  • The Federal Reserve of St. Louis (FRED). This website has really great tools to see what is going on in the economy, https://fred.stlouisfed.org/
